Description
The “Agricultural Revolution” is lauded as one of the greatest achievements in the history of the human race, proof positive of “Progress” and of the exalted status of humans, only “a little lower than angels.” Undoubtedly, it was a momentous change on par with the taming of fire, the development of language and the splitting of the atom. But a closer look shows that the adoption of farming led to declines in human health, caused sharp social inequities, and started a war on the environment, putting us on a road headed for extinction.
This zine is excerpted from my book, “The Failures of Farming & the Necessity of Wildtending” and goes into detail about this profound historical transformation and its current side effects.
